Verbena officinalis var. grandiflora
Found in a public garden in the English town of Bampton, this new verbena is a forest of glossy purple stems holding clouds of lavender-pink small flowers at the tips. Plant in masses and enjoy a hazy, see-through look fabulous in large tubs or at the front of the dry border. Freely blooming summer and fall; cooler weather unleashes an eggplant foliage hue.

Starting Indoors:
Recommended. 8-10 weeks before last frost. Keep at 65-75°F in darkness until germination occurs. If no germination after four weeks, chill in refrigerator for two weeks, then return to warmth.

PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
The cool weather of fall brings out the lacquered plum color on the mass of stems and pinpoints of lilac-pink flowers that is verbena 'Bampton'. Beautiful as a container plant, or planted in the mixed border with salvias and dahlias. Easy care, it can self-seed like others in its tribe.
