PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Plectranthus 'Silver Shield' is a well-branched and undemanding shrubby plant that adds muted silvery hues to cottage borders and large containers, where it enhances soft pink, blue and yellow flowers and tempers hot orange and red flowers. Full sun is tolerated in cooler summer areas, provide a sheltered spot with afternoon shade in hotter areas.
Watering Details:
Tolerates some drought if grown in partial shade, but performs best when watered regularly; about an inch per week is preferred.
Fertilizer:
Mix a time-released fertilizer into growing media or ground prior to planting. A regular application of water-soluble fertilizer is beneficial.
Diseases & Pests:
Avoid root rot by planting in a well-drained location where there is also good airflow, which will help to prevent fungal problems. If fungal issues arise, treat with an organic fungicide according to package instructions. If pests such as mites or aphids appear, treat with an insecticidal soap or other organically friendly product.
