SOWING INSTRUCTIONS
Depth:
Surface sow and press in.
Sprout Time:
7-14 days
Starting Indoors:
Start indoors in pots 6-8 weeks before planting out. Keep at 60-70°F. A period of moist stratification may increase germination. Sow in a container, cover with a plastic bag and refrigerate, or mix seed with damp clean sand or vermiculite, bag, and refrigerate at 35-40°F for 30-60 days. Check often for germination and maintain a lightly moist medium. Transplant any seedlings as they germinate. After the chill period, sow into soilless media and keep at 60-70°F.
Starting Outdoors:
Direct sow in spring or fall, raking into the soil, or winter sow into pots in the shade, covered with a thin layer of clean sand and a wire screen to keep out mice and voles. Check for moisture at regular intervals.
PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Native bees, butterflies, and birds are attracted to this coreopsis and it is deer resistant, making it an excellent addition to meadow gardens as well as placed at the back of informal cottage gardens. Less fertile, sandy loam promotes a more compact growth, overly moist rich soils promote weak growth that tends to flop over. Site with strong growers that provide some support to the tall stems; summer will bring a large variety of insects attracted to the ample pollen and nectar. It is also the host plant for the caterpillars of several moth species. Spreads in overly moist soils.
Final Spacing:
2-3'
Water Requirements:
Low Water Use
Watering Details:

This plant prefers slightly acidic pH levels but will grow in neutral to slightly alkaline soils.

Diseases & Pests:
No major pests or diseases. Water early in the day to allow the foliage to dry and avoid leaf disease.
When to Cut for Bouquets:
Cut when one half of flowers on a spray are fully opened
