PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Nigella papillosa was once called Spanish Nigell and found in gardens in the 1600s in England, when a rare double form was most coveted. Bees adore these plants and alight on the broad petals to gather pollen and nectar from the tufts of purple stamens in their centers. Delicate grassy-green foliage and a bushy habit support the summer's bloom. The curvy, inflated seed capsules have won over fans of dried flower arrangements.
Fertilizer:
Mix in 1-2" inches of compost prior to planting.
Diseases & Pests:
No serious diseases or pests.
When to Cut for Bouquets:
Harvest freshly opened flowers; for dry use once seed pods have dried.
