PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
A supporting player in dry gardens, meadows, and cottage gardens, Linaria pairs well with clary sage 'Turkestanica' and lamb's ears. Native to Italy, it prefers well-drained sites and full sun. Deer resistant, it attracts bees and is a lovely cut flower. Self-sows, sometimes abundantly. Trim back spent flower stems, leaving a few to drop seed and renew the planting.
Watering Details:
Keep evenly moist until well-established, then water during dry spells.
Fertilizer:
Mix in an inch of compost prior to planting if soil is especially poor.
Diseases & Pests:
No major problems. Root rots may occur in heavy soils or extended rainy periods.
When to Cut for Bouquets:
Cut when 1/2 of the florets are open.
