SOWING INSTRUCTIONS
Depth:
Barely cover 1/16"
Starting Indoors:
Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Sprinkle with vermiculite or cover with a humidity dome to aid germination. Keep at 65-75°F, until germination, then grow on at 50-55°F.
Starting Outdoors:
Direct sow spring to early summer for blooms the following year.
PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Ruffly bright scarlet Geum 'Red Dragon' adds movement and brilliant color to borders, containers and cut flower gardens. Grow in masses and avoid areas with hot unrelenting sun and dry soils, especially in summer. Cut back untidy foliage after the main flowering time for fresh dark green growth. A short-lived perennial, deadhead leaving some to drop seed and renew your plantings, or divide every three years. Best in compost enriched, freely draining soils.
Watering Details:
About 1" of water a week. They do best when evenly moist soils are provided. Avoid saturated soils.
Soil pH:
Slightly acidic soil, 5.8-6.5pH
Fertilizer:
Mix in 2" of compost before planting.
When to Cut for Bouquets:
Cut when one or two blooms on a stem start to open.
