PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
A beloved staple of early summer cottage gardens, the annual flax is at home planted in clusters alongside meadow and cottage garden favorites at the garden's edge and in containers. Its slender foliage is an elegant backdrop to the new blossoms that open daily. This plant is particularly well-suited for cooler summer climates, where its extended blooming period can be fully appreciated; elsewhere, it is a spring and early summer delight. Shear lightly after this first flush for a later rebloom in moderate summer areas.
Fertilizer:
Mix in 1-2 inches of compost before planting into lean soils.
