Amberboa moschata syn. Centaurea moschata
Feathery puffs of honey-fragrant white petals are gathered and held by the decorative overlapping bracts under the bloom, creating a thistle-like flower. The pure white flowers up to three inches across develop a hint of buff and primrose yellow in their centers. Delicate looking yet unwavering in their summer bloom where summer heat is moderate.

PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Sweet sultan is an old-fashioned honey-scented flower described in the 1600s by an English herbalist as a "stranger of much beauty lately from Constantinople." At home in the cottage garden and cutting garden, its soft thistle-like flowers keep blooming if deadheaded or cut for bouquets regularly. Site in well-drained soils. Performs best in cool to moderate summer areas, preferring the cooler season of spring and fall.
