Garland Chrysanthemum 'Primrose Gem' Organic

Chrysanthemum coronarium
Chrysanthemum coronarium, also known crown daisy, has a long and fascinating history. Native to the Mediterranean region and parts of Asia, they are grown for their potent medicinal qualities and nutrition-packed leaves. In ancient Greece, garland chrysanthemum was associated with the goddess Aphrodite and was used to make flowery crowns and garlands for celebrations. The creamy yellow flowers resemble miniature roses perched atop the vigorous growing plants, and their numbers only increase as the days shorten.

PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
This Mediterranean plant has a long history in cottage, medicinal, and vegetable gardens. The beautiful pale buttercup-hued petals and pungent young leaves are nutritional powerhouses. This species is grown as a cool-season vegetable in Asian cultures; the fresh spring-green shoots are called Shungiku in Japan. Provide freely-draining soils and deadhead for continued bloom. May self-sow in favorable conditions.
